We’ve Only Paused, Not Ended: PM Modi Sends Stern Warning to Pakistan After Operation Sindoor”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation with a powerful message on May 12, 2025, stating that India has only “paused” its retaliatory military actions against Pakistan following Operation Sindoor. The speech came after India’s precision airstrikes in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. Modi affirmed that this military operation marks a continuation of India’s firm anti-terrorism policy—building upon the 2016 surgical strikes and 2019 Balakot airstrikes. His words made it clear: the Indian government remains vigilant and will measure every action taken by Pakistan in the coming days.

Operation Sindoor: Over 100 Terrorists Eliminated in One Strike

In response to the ghastly Pahalgam attack, India launched Operation Sindoor, a high-precision counter-terrorism operation that reportedly killed over 100 terrorists. According to PM Modi, several high-ranking terrorist operatives who had been conspiring from Pakistani soil for decades were neutralized in the strike. The attacks targeted terror hideouts and military installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoK). This swift and effective retaliation underlines India’s new defense doctrine—one that doesn’t just react but ensures impactful and immediate justice.

Tactical Pause, Not a Ceasefire: India’s Military on Full Alert

Modi stressed that India’s actions are merely paused—not concluded. Indian defense forces including the Army, Navy, Air Force, BSF, and paramilitary units are on high alert, especially along the Line of Control (LoC). The PM’s message reflected India’s readiness for any further aggression from Pakistan. This pause, he emphasized, depends entirely on Pakistan’s future behavior. He warned that any further provocation will be met with fierce retribution, echoing his earlier commitment that the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack would face punishment “beyond their imagination.”

Broken Trust: Pakistan Violates Understanding Within Hours

Despite a proposal from Pakistan’s DGMO to cease hostilities, violations were swift. According to India’s DGMO Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, the agreement to stop cross-border firing and air intrusions took effect at 5:00 PM on May 10. However, Pakistan breached the agreement within hours with fresh cross-border shelling and drone incursions. These violations were strongly countered by Indian forces. India has communicated its firm stand that any repeated violations will be fiercely met, and full authority has been given to commanders on the ground to take decisive action without delay.

The Road Ahead: From Strategic Vigilance to Diplomatic Clarity

With the Indus Waters Treaty put on hold and Operation Sindoor setting a precedent, India has clearly redrawn the lines of engagement. PM Modi reiterated that future dialogue with Pakistan would only happen on two terms—ending terrorism and the reintegration of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). His reference to this policy shift signals a new era in India-Pakistan relations, driven by military resolve and zero tolerance for terror. As India awaits Pakistan’s next move, one thing is clear: the era of nuclear blackmail and cross-border terrorism being tolerated is over.
