India Did Not Target Nuclear Installations at Kirana Hills: Clarifies Air Marshal AK Bharti

Air Marshal AK Bharti, Director General of Air Operations, recently clarified that India did not target Pakistan’s alleged nuclear installations in Kirana Hills during the recent military actions. He emphasized that the Indian military’s primary aim was to combat terrorism and eliminate terror infrastructure, not to engage in an escalation involving nuclear sites. The Kirana Hills had been widely speculated to house nuclear facilities, but Bharti’s statements served to dispel these claims, redirecting the focus to India’s ongoing efforts to neutralize terrorist groups operating from across the border.

Focus of India’s Military Action: Terrorism and Military Support for Terrorists

According to Air Marshal Bharti, India’s military operations were squarely aimed at eliminating terrorism and the infrastructure supporting it, not targeting Pakistan’s military installations or nuclear assets. He stressed that while India’s conflict is with terrorists, the situation worsened due to Pakistan’s military’s active support of these terror groups. This intervention forced India to expand its response, engaging in a broader military action against the infrastructure enabling cross-border terrorism.

Operational Impact: Drones and Chinese-Origin Missiles

Air Marshal Bharti also highlighted the defensive capabilities of the Indian military, particularly in countering Pakistani drone attacks. He noted how Indian forces successfully thwarted numerous waves of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and drones using both soft and hard kill countermeasures. Additionally, he revealed that Pakistan had used Chinese-origin missiles, notably the PL-15 air-to-air missiles, to launch attacks against India. However, these missiles missed their intended targets, underscoring India’s robust defense capabilities.

India’s Response to Pakistan’s Violations

The air marshal also discussed the broader context of military engagements, particularly how India responded to Pakistan’s violations of ceasefire agreements. Pakistan’s use of drones and missile strikes demonstrated its persistent aggression, and India’s retaliation was a direct result of these provocations. Bharti expressed regret over Pakistan’s decision to involve its military, making it a broader confrontation than India initially intended. The Indian forces, however, remained vigilant and prepared to respond appropriately to further violations.

India’s Commitment to Counterterrorism and Defense Readiness

In his address, Air Marshal AK Bharti reiterated that India’s actions were justified responses to Pakistan’s ongoing support for terrorist activities. India remains focused on eliminating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. The Indian military’s preparedness, along with its advanced defense systems, continues to demonstrate its capacity to effectively counter external threats, regardless of the nature or scale of the aggression.
